Training Trainers

I'm excited to announce that I'll be teaching other people how to be trainers. Daymar College has hired me to teach a 9-month personal trainer certification course that culminates with the students taking the exam to become an NSCA-CPT, which I consider the most prestigious personal trainer certification.

The classes are held at night, allowing me to continue to train clients one-on-one in the morning and afternoon.

The intensive program, beginning July 6, covers anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, exercise psychology and the business of personal training. Students will spend a substantial amount of time with me in the gym learning how to properly use exercise equipment.

There is nothing else like this available in the area.

I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to help properly educate the next generation of personal trainers.

How To Maximize Your Longevity

Researchers who study longevity have discovered certain common traits in those who live long, happy lives. While genetics may be the most important factor determining longevity, following these tips can help everyone maximize their lifespan.

1) Exercise daily. It doesn't always have to be hard exercise; something simple such as walking can suffice. Just be physically active every day or most days.

2) Cultivate relationships with family and friends.

3) Eat more plants and less meat.

4) Develop a sense of meaning in your life. Find a purpose.

5) Earn an adequate income.

6) Be involved in a spiritual activity.

7) Eat seafood twice weekly.

8) Don't rely on drugs to fall asleep.

9) Get enough sleep -- generally 7-8 hours a night.

10) Cultivate an optimistic mindset.
